Your First Visit
Our first meeting will allow us to get acquainted with each other. At your first visit, we will start with a discussion about your dental concerns, problems and desires. We will then perform a comprehensive oral exam to determine the best course of action to solve all of your dental concerns. The typical comprehensive exam includes:
- through medical and dental history
- oral cancer screening
- clinical examination (teeth, gum tissue, jaw joints and facial muscles)
- digital photos of face and teeth
- digital dental x-rays
- impressions for plaster study models
These items are charged at the first appointment.
If the above diagnostic information has been made within the prior 12 months and the reason for your consultation is for a second opinion, please bring these with you.
All of this information will be analyzed to develop a custom treatment plan for you.
Communication is the key to any successful relationship. After your records have been evaluated, we will discuss your treatment options and together create a personalized plan the makes sense for you. We will discuss your treatment plan in detail, including the costs, the timeline and future maintenance. We want you to make the best decision possible for your health.
If a surgeon is to be used, it may be necessary to have a conjoint consultation. In my experience, this has been extremely helpful for our patients.
If you were referred to us by your general dentist, that relationship will not change. We will refer you back to your general dentist when your treatment is complete. In addition, we will stay in communication with your dentist during your treatment.
