When decay is extensive, a crown (cap) is recommended. The exciting news is that now you can have a crown that gives you the strength, beauty, translucency and feel of a natural tooth. Crowns may be made as all metal, porcelain fused to metal or all-ceramic (porcelain). Crowns are indicated for teeth with very large fillings, teeth that have had a root canal, fractured teeth, misshapen teeth and discolored teeth. Dr. Frey creates custom crowns and bridges to match the size, shape and color of the adjacent natural teeth.
